The Generations are depicted by the umbilical cord from the fetus attached to the "generations" who came before. Many symbols of fertility are painted onto the egg. The male and female figures are deliberately painted as though on an old, well worn plaster wall. The sculpture is hollow white ceramic, fired to cone 2, in the shape of an "almost" egg. The painting, in acrylics, shows the ever renewing life cycle. It is varnished with archival and UV protection. The finish is similar to an eggshell in texture and sheen.
